Did you know targeted spay/neuter (including TNR for cats) is the most humane, effective way to reduce street‑animal populations over time? This initiative supports high‑impact sterilization, vaccination, and community engagement across Eastern Europe.

Across Eastern Europe, thousands of stray animals struggle to survive on the streets, often without food, shelter, or medical care. To break this cycle humanely, Global Animal Aid launched the Hope for Street Animals initiative — a program focused on targeted sterilization, vaccination, and education.
Working with municipal partners and local rescue groups, our teams mapped stray-population hotspots and set up mobile units to provide safe, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries. Cats and dogs were humanely trapped, vaccinated, microchipped, and returned to their territories or placed with shelters for adoption. Each procedure was paired with ear-tipping or tagging to prevent duplication and monitor long-term progress.
Community involvement was key. Local residents and feeders helped report new animals, monitor colonies, and assist with post-operative care. Through workshops and outreach events, we built understanding that compassion and prevention go hand in hand.
This project doesn’t just reduce numbers — it improves lives. Fewer litters mean healthier animals, less suffering, and safer neighborhoods. Together, we’re creating a future where kindness, knowledge, and responsible action replace fear and neglect on the streets.
Lower intake — seasonal surges of kittens and puppies eased at city shelters.
Health gains — vaccination and parasite control delivered at the time of surgery.
Community trust — clear messaging and involvement reduced objections and abandonment.
“Since TNR began, our courtyard is calmer — and the cats look healthier every week.”

Every donation goes directly to rescuing animals, providing medical care, shelter, and food. With your help, we can give them hope and a future.
